Borealis, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, will invest Euro 370 million in Stenungsund, Sweden, enhancing its capability to provide advanced materials for the growing wire and cable market, as well as for the Nordic packaging market.
The project, due for completion at the end of 2009, includes a new 350,000 t/y high-pressure LDPE plant, modernisation and streamlining of compounding, and related material handling facilities. 230,000 t/y of old, high-cost polyethylene capacity will be shutdown.

| Maschinenfabrik Niehoff, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of machines and assemblies for the wire and cable industry, opened a new plant in India at the beginning of February 2007. The plant, which represents an investment of some US $ 1.5 million, is located in a new industrial development area near Hyderabad and boasts production facilities spanning around 3,500 m² and office accommodation extending over 500 m². The production area includes a manufacturing shop for mechanical components, a warehouse, a paint shop, an assembly area, a test area, and a showroom for machines and assemblies.
